This has been a good laid up tarpon fly. Very subtle, lands softly. It has been an effective fly when the fish are edgy. Also good in a dark olive.

Rat Fly: Tarpon Version 

This is a shrimp pattern that has a spun deer hair head, making it neutrally buoyant. It was created for tarpon but works for ALL saltwater species, including permit. Add lead eyes and you have a bonefish fly.

Merkin

A merkin (according to the Oxford Dictionary, 1617) is a pubic wig, originally worn by prostitutes after shaving their genitalia to eliminate lice or to disguise the marks of syphilis.

The Merkin was one of Del Browns favorite permit flies. The permit like this fly too..

Moret's Cracked Crab Fly is a very effective permit fly and bonefish fly here in the lower Florida Keys. It is a good choice for both permit and bonefish when fly fishing on the lighter bottomed flats.

This tarpon fly has been around about 20 years and has caught a ton of tarpon.  Even though it is an old pattern it is still a great producer.  It was created by one of  the greatest Keys guides ever, Steve Huff, so you know it works!

Tarpon Bunny

This is a very simple and effective tarpon fly. With the rabbit fur you can get a lot of "movement" from the fly with out a lot of forward travel.. Dance this in front of a tarpon and you will get the tarpons attention.

Crunchy: Tarpon Version

This fly was designed by Capt. Bill Fitzimmons. 

It  can be tied a varify of ways on a variety of hooks, change the hook, add some weight and it is a permit fly, tye inverted with lead eyes and it is a bonefish fly..   Looks good enough to add cocktail sauce..

It is deadly on tarpon, bonefish and permit.

Notice the hook. It is an Owner Mutu, designed to catch fish in the corner of the mouth. This fly is a little light for big tarpon, but fine for baby tarpon. Keep the rod tip low, pointed at the tarpon and let him come tight.

Gurgler

The gurgler is a killer baby tarpon fly, especialy during a shrimp hatch. This tarpon fly imitates a shrimp and travels just under the surface, long slow strips will result in some explosive hits on top.

Chard's Super Slug

This is one of the many Bruce Chard flies available in some of your better fly shops..  The super slug is very effective  bonefish fly here in the Florida Keys and also the Bahamas.  Permit like it too!!

This bonefish fly is another variation of many other bonefish flies. The one thing it has in common with the others, is it works.... This is a go to fly for bonefish and redfish when they are in very shallow water tailing. It has a lot of bulk with virtualy no wieght, this fly lands softly and the fish like it..

Creamsicle

This shark fly has a white head, which makes it easier to track in the water.  Hint: Sharks see better to the side then straight ahead.  Sharks have an exceptional sense of smell and  they can detect real from fake better then some of the other fish we target... How ever they can be teased into eating a fly.  Hooking a big shark on fly in shallow water is a riot!
