Another pretty morning in the Lower Florida Keys back country.....Took this photo on the way to our first spot... looks even better with rolling tarpon...
The weather for this week was warm and calm...
My anglers for this week prefered to target tarpon.. Which is fine with me, I am a tarpon junkie and conditions were right for tarpon fishing.. We started before dawn just about every day.. Flat calm, good tides, perfect conditions to find rolling juvenile tarpon... A couple of mornings we did and a couple of mornings the tarpon did not get the memo.. (I did talk them into trying one bonefish flat... we found some nice tailing bonefish.... Also got shots at lost permit in tarpon spots too)
After the sun got higher we would switch to sight fishing for juvenile tarpon and full size tarpon.. We did find a couple of spots were 3 to 6 foot tarpon were feeding on schools of bait.. It was fun.. We found and fed more big tarpon then I would have suspected this time of year. If the got the fly in their zone... going away.. it would get slurped up!
